To me, the Opera House in Sydney Harbour always come first in my mind.  But hear me on this: If you plan to have a journey to Sydney thinking that the Opera House is the only interesting thing to see, you are missing out the fun stuffs. Big time.  There are MORE to see in the Sydney Harbour, other than the iconic building.

Here are the things you can do when visiting the Sydney Harbour, Sydney, Australia:

The Sydney Opera House

Undoubtedly the most memorable icon of Sydney, the Opera House holds many events throughout the year. In the center of this world-class performing arts center is the concert hall, which is small and elegant yet has some of the most talented opera singers in the world perform here.

If you get the chance to, purchase a ticket to the opera and spend a night out in Sydney in the iconic building. You can get tickets for as little as $50 a person for most operas and musicals.

A trip to Sydney isn’t complete until you at least walk around Circular Quay and check out the brilliant architecture of the Sydney Opera House.

Ride the Ferry

Take the ferry to the Taronga Zoo, one of the most beautiful zoos in the world. Tickets are $46 for adults, but this zoo is worth the price. There are a ton of attractions for all ages, and they have a wide variety of animals.

The giraffe exhibit has a backdrop of the Opera house and the Harbor Bridge, and they also have Australian animals like kangaroos, koalas, and a Tasmanian devil exhibit.

You can spend a good 4-5 hours checking out the Taronga Zoo, but be careful though, since the zoo closes at 4:30pm or 5pm (depending on the month), don’t get there too late!

Don’t forget to take the super cool free sky safari cable car up to the zoo, where you’ll see magnificent views of the zoo, including elephants.

You can also take the ferry to the hidden gem of Manly Beach, which is known for its awesome beach and café scene. It’s a very cute little beach town that feels like a million miles away from the hustling scene of the city. Here, you can visit the Manly Seal Life Sanctuary, go parasailing, or take surf lessons and whale watch.

Bridge Climb

Open to anyone over the age of 10 and in good health, the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb is an amazing opportunity to see Sydney from an aerial view.

Sydney Bridge

There is a range of different climbs, but the most popular one is the Express Climb. It allows you to climb to the top of the bridge in 2 hours and 15 minutes, with all equipment provided. You will still get to climb to the top of the bridge, but just with fewer stops on the way.

The Bridge Climb takes you along the outer arch of the Harbor Bridge on ladders and catwalks. You’ll be able to see the Opera House and the entire Harbor, and even as far as the Blue Mountains on a clear day.
